The fitness center at Twin Lakes Senior Living Community is open to anyone 50+ who would like to join. Equipped with an aquatic center, fitness room, exercise classes and staff who are specifically trained to create workout plans for a mature population, this may be one of the best kept secrets in Montgomery, Ohio.
Our fitness center, called The Connection, is an amenity designed for the many people who live within our senior living community, but memberships have always been available to those who don’t reside on campus.
This is great news for those looking for an facility focused on the health and wellness of those 50 and older.
Here’s what members have access to.
The Aquatic Center
The Connection offers a 75-foot pool kept at 89 degrees. With swimming lanes, regularly scheduled aquatic classes and a variety of accessories to use during your workout it’s one of the best locations for the 50+ population to maintain their health and well-being.
Aquatic accessories for your use include:
- Kick boards
- Resistance foam dumbbells
- Foam noodles
- Float belts
- Webbed gloves
- Foot fins
- Resistance hand fans
All items are kept stored in the pool area and Wellness Specialists are always available to answer questions, demonstrate how to use equipment, or meet with you on a regular basis to help you accomplish your goals.
Working with a Wellness Specialist at The Connection is always free of charge as it is part of your membership.
Unique to our facility are underwater bikes. These are available for members to use and a Wellness Specialist will be happy to drop one into the pool for you as well as offer some brief instructions on how to ride it. We also offer classes that include aquatic cycling.
Some members enjoy riding stationary bikes in the water as opposed to on land because it relieves the strain on knees and any area of the body that is submerged.
After working out many members take advantage of the whirlpool within the Aquatic Center. Sometimes called a hot tub, the whirlpool has pressurized jets and is kept 102 degrees. Soaking in the whirlpool is not just an indulgence, but a therapeutic treatment as the heat and jets release tension from, and knead sore muscles. A great way to relax and reset your mental state before or after a workout.
The Fitness Room
The fitness room is well stocked with a variety of workout equipment specifically designed for those 50+. Many new members schedule a session with a Wellness Specialist to discuss what they want to accomplish and to establish goals.
Whether your goal is to increase flexibility, improve endurance or recover from an injury; they will work with you to create a program that meets your needs and will teach you how to use equipment best suited for your goals.
Fitness room equipment available for your use includes:
Keiser equipment- This uses air pressure making resistance adjustments as easy as pressing a button. The equipment includes: a leg press, upper back, leg extension, lateral pull down, seated leg curl, and a biaxial chest press.
Nusteps- Recumbent cross trainers that combine a comfortable seated position with a smooth stepping action.
Treadmills- Cross trainers that simulates walking, running or stair climbing, giving you a challenging cardio workout without stress on muscles and joints, thereby decreasing the risk of impact injuries.
Eliptical- An upright bike that has a smooth natural knee movement to improve the user’s functional gait. Seat adjusts up/down and fore/aft to ensure correct form for the user.
Scifi Bike- Simulates walking, running, or climbing by using adjustable incline and multiple console options.

Your plan and progress are all recorded on a card for you to use as a reference during your workout. Again, this service is part of your membership to The Connection.
The Connection classes are designed for the 50+ community and are free to members, so whether you have been working out for years or are new to fitness, there’s a class for you.
